Alpha is a leading manufacturer of assembly materials for the electronics industry, and APEX is one of the industry’s premier tradeshows in North America. In 2015, Alpha underwent a transfer of ownership and wanted to make it clear that its reputation for quality and innovation has deep roots, going back to 1872, and that its continuity was in no danger of being interrupted. The final section allows visitors to predict the industry’s future.

The silhouettes here on the page background are of tools from the time before personal computers. Each page of a print piece was built by hand using illustration board, ruling pens, stats, and galley type. Computers took the hand work out of design and left my fingers needing something creative to do. So I returned to painting, having abandoned it after high school. I studied at the National Academy for ten years and individually with several renowned representational painters. I am fascinated with portraiture, and many of the subjects are family members from my father's side in Newfoundland. Design is about clarity of communication, but painting gave me access to an unexpected emotional dimension.
